THE MISSION OF THE IS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT MEANINGFUL PROGRAMS FOR CARE IN LOCAL, , NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL ARENAS. THESE PROGRAMS MUST INCLUDE EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, STANDARDS OF CARE, AND ASSESSMENT OF OUTCOMES.

TO ENGAGE IN FUNDRAISING AND PAYMENT OF GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL, LICENSED REHABILITATION SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS SUFFERING FROM ALCOHOL ADDICTION AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE WHO ARE WITHOUT FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO SECURE SAID REHABILITATION SERVICES.

ISTSS IS AN MULTIDISCIPLINARY, PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES ADVANCEMENT AND EXCHANGE OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SEVERE STRESS AND TRAUMA. THE MAJOR ACTIVITIES ISTSS ARE THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, SYMPOSIUMS, A PROFESSIONAL JOURNAL AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS.
